About JEE

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)
  • CBSE announced JEE (2012) in place of AIEEE and IIT-JEE.
  • It is an all India common engineering entrance examination
  • Conducted for admission in various engineering colleges and courses all over India.
  • Conducted in two parts-JEE-Main & JEE Advanced.
  • JEE-Main exam is admission criteria in IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology), NITs (National Institutes of Technology), CFTIs (Central Funded Technical Institute) and IIEST Shibpur, for admission to its dual degree programme.
  • JEE-Advanced is for admission in Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), and Indian School of Mines Dhanbad.

Expected new changes

  • Top 2 lac students can take JEE-Advanced 2016 which was 1.5 lac earlier.
  • Both JEE-Main and JEE-Advanced may be combined into one test by year 2017 on wards. To be eligible for the combined paper, students may need to take compulsory Aptitude tests.
  • From 2017 onwards, weightage for +2 board exam i.e 40% may not be considered during seat allocation in IITs,  NITs. and CFTIs
